Dream Day
by Dorothy Fagan on May.11, 2010, under Dreams, THE CASTLE GARDEN, en Plein Air
Mother’s Day was such a perfectly perfect day. Sunny and warm, clear and beautiful. Not too hot. Not too cool. Way too good of a day to do anything less than play.
In the twenty years I have known my husband, I can count on one hand the times he has agreed to accompany me to the beach for the day. I always ask. He always declines my invitation. I guess it’s just a game we play.
This time he said ‘yes!’
So we packed some sandwiches and a cooler with water. Put my paint box, his metal detector and the dog in the van. And headed for Haven Beach.
I laid in the sun. Sneekers followed Jim along the dunes. I made this little painting of the tide pools. And we all had a picnic.
When we headed back home, I felt as though I had stepped into my dream. All three of my sons called to wish me a happy mother’s day. A Dream Day doesn’t get any ‘perfecter’ than that!
